There is no way this source is accurate, 12-13 planes shot down? None of the planes even went in to India and there is zero confirmation that this happened by any other country or reputable news source. These clowns are going to make India a laughing stock.

I suspect Russia will give license to produce the S-400 systems in India as India is not sanctioned so obtaining materials should be easier.

This is worthless, unless India gets to produce these systems locally. Russia barely has a steady supply chain for its own war, and they are yet complete the delivery of the previous batch.

I do remember awhile back that Indian military personnel and parliament were very annoyed with Russia given these mounting delays. Was quite hopeful that India will either finally diversify its defense partners or increase funding to its many local missile programs. And then Mr. Taco Tanface happened...

India has its own long range Surface to Air missile system 'Project Kusha' under development. It consists of 4 variants . M1=150km, M2=250km, M2 Naval=250km and M3=350km. But it will not be operational before 2030. It makes sense to buy additional units but with some licensed production in India.

Is this the S-400 system that is being destroyed by a regular FTP drone? They didn't really help the Russians and Iran. But they shoot down regular passenger planes reliably.

Get the items first, then pay. Russia is a bit short on funds these days. Also, maybe check the purity of the oli you buy, I suspect it has been watered down lately.

Russia and India have multiple longstanding defence cooperatives going back decades across aerospace, tanks, missiles, and maritime assets. Whether Russia has the missiles to sell them is separate. They're not on one side or the other, they're on their own side.

And even in Ukraine, Russia's air defence has been pitiful.

I think the untold story here is that India is willing to act as a straw buyer of western electronics for these types of systems. They also have a growing fab industry so could be working on pirate copies of some stuff. Russia can't produce many of the subsystems used in the S-400 complex without access to components that are embargoed. India currently has pretty open access to the various tech. This might be changing soon, if India gets much friendlier with Russia.

The S-400 is a competitive platform up to 4th gen aircraft and certain ballistic threats. Nobody (not even its designers) knows if it can stand up to more modern systems. Meanwhile, THAAD and Patriot are seeing real-world successes and Iron Dome is in the cost-efficiency part of its development cycle, having proven to be competent. Too bad that the "other guys" are locked out that market because of "reasons"...

No better selling point, than russian oil refineries, factories, ammo dumps, and the AA systems themselves, blowing up everyday due to poor AA control of their own skies. Then imagine an adversary who has current gen ECMs, anti radiation and stealth capabilities, not just 10.000$ drones. Everyone who keeps buying russian hardware since 2022 should keep doing it. It’s like natural selection. They should also pack every piece of equipment with free cope cage as a bonus.
